Testing
So I am off on my big trip!! I am testing out the email to post function for the blog so that I can hopefully post updates more easily. Currently waiting in the airport for boarding to start. Made it to the airport in plenty of time, and so Cat and I are sitting here planning out our trip. Maybe we should have planning before now...but this makes it more exciting!! So far the plan is to go to the Anne Frank and Van Gogh museums and to rent bikes and go see some windmills, but I'm sure we will find more to do. :)

Tom is an old fogie like me
Went to San Antonio this past weekend for Tom's graduation. For the most part, I forget home much I miss Texas until I get back there. It was nice to be back on campus and visiting friends.
Tom is all graduated, but we'll be back again next year for his Master's graduation from the Teaching program at Trinity.

There was also a torrential downpour on Friday and I was in the car waiting for it to stop.
I got bored and started taking pictures...

First year of grad school
First year of grad school is almost over! These are all the wonderful girls from my class. They are from Indonesia, Turkey, Columbia, Iran, and of course New Hampshire. They are all also midgets. I am not tall or anything... ;)

Research and Green Beans
Starting to get everything together for my research... At some point, I will take a picture of the massive amount of gear I am accumulating. Until then I will keep you in the dark on what a huge nerd I've become.
Went to Home Depot tonight to try and find something to use to transport my samples. A member of my committee suggested those blue electrical conduit boxes, so here I was looking at them in Home Depot when a guy come up to see if I need any help. I explain to him that someone suggested these to me. His response, did you try Michael's Arts and Crafts? Now I know I was wearing a skirt today.... So then I proceeded to tell him that I am a geologist and need them to be sturdy because I have to hammer them into an outcrop so that I can transport them back from Africa in one piece. Oh man you should have seen his face.
Since I'm telling funny stories today... For some reason, the day I got a green bean stuck up my nose came up today. Sometimes I snort when I laugh. Sometimes beverages shoot out of my nose, and sometimes when I eat green beans and snort they get stuck in my nose. This was in high school at a dinner before a band concert, and somebody said something funny. So I snorted and the green bean went up my nose. Only it didn't come back out right away. It waited until I was on stage during the band concert to fall back out while I was planning the saxophone. Let me tell you green beans burn.
Enough randomness. Back to term paper.

Beach Day
Went to the Jersey Shore yesterday to a place called Sandy Hook. The last time Cat and I went you could see the skyline of NYC, but it was pretty hazy yesterday and you couldn't really see it so here's a picture from last time.
We just went to relax a little bit. Both of us are stressed about our research and so it was nice to get out of our house and do some homework along the beach rather than in our little apartment. The water was so cold that your feet went numb!
I also read some of a book I've started, The Memory Keeper's Daughter. So far it's been very good.
